वैशंपायन उवाच ततो विसर्जयामास सर्वाः प्रकृतयो नृपः विविशुश्चाभ्यनुज्ञाता यथास्वानि गृहाणि च

M. N. Dutt: Vaishampayana said, The king sent away all his subjects, who, ordered by the king, came back to their respective abodes.

ततो युधिष्ठिरो राजा भीमं भीमपराक्रमम् सान्त्वयन्नब्रवीद्धीमानर्जुनं यमजौ तथा

AI Translation: Then King Yudhishthira, the wise one, consoled Bhima, the one of terrible prowess, and spoke to Arjuna and the twins.

शत्रुभिर्विविधैः शस्त्रैः कृत्तदेहा महारणे श्रान्ता भवन्तः सुभृशं तापिताः शोकमन्युभिः

AI Translation: Their bodies cut by various weapons of enemies in the great battle, you are all very much exhausted and tormented by grief and anger.

अरण्ये दुःखवसतीर्मत्कृते पुरुषोत्तमाः भवद्भिरनुभूताश्च यथा कुपुरुषैस्तथा

M. N. Dutt: Through my fault, O foremost of Bharata's race, you have suffered the miseries of banishment in the forests like ordinary men.

यथासुखं यथाजोषं जयोऽयमनुभूयताम् विश्रान्ताँल्लब्धविज्ञानाञ्श्वः समेतास्मि वः पुनः

M. N. Dutt: With great joy and ease enjoy this victory. After taking rest and refreshing your faculties, meet me again in the morning.

ततो दुर्योधनगृहं प्रासादैरुपशोभितम् बहुरत्नसमाकीर्णं दासीदाससमाकुलम्

AI Translation: Then the house of Duryodhana, adorned with palaces, Filled with many jewels, crowded with female and male servants,

धृतराष्ट्राभ्यनुज्ञातं भ्रात्रा दत्तं वृकोदरः प्रतिपेदे महाबाहुर्मन्दरं मघवानिव

AI Translation: Vrikodara, with the permission of Dhritarashtra and given by his brother, accepted it, like the mighty-armed Maghavan accepting Mandara.

यथा दुर्योधनगृहं तथा दुःशासनस्य च प्रासादमालासंयुक्तं हेमतोरणभूषितम्

AI Translation: Just as Duryodhana's house, so also Duhshāsana's, Adorned with rows of palaces, adorned with golden gateways,

दासीदाससुसंपूर्णं प्रभूतधनधान्यवत् प्रतिपेदे महाबाहुरर्जुनो राजशासनात्

AI Translation: Filled with servants and slaves, with abundant wealth and grain, The mighty-armed Arjuna received it by the king's command.

M. N. Dutt: The palace of Durmarshana was even superior to that Dushasana. Resembling the palace of Kubera himself, it was adorned with gold and every sort of gem.

नकुलाय वरार्हाय कर्शिताय महावने ददौ प्रीतो महाराज धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः

M. N. Dutt: King Yudhishthira gladly gave it to Nakula who deserved it best and who had been reduced with sufferings in the great forest.

दुर्मुखस्य च वेश्माग्र्यं श्रीमत्कनकभूषितम् पूर्णं पद्मदलाक्षीणां स्त्रीणां शयनसंकुलम्

M. N. Dutt: The best of palaces belonging to Durmukha was highly beautiful and adorned with gold. It was full of beds and beautiful women having eyes like lotus-petals.

प्रददौ सहदेवाय सततं प्रियकारिणे मुमुदे तच्च लब्ध्वा स कैलासं धनदो यथा

M. N. Dutt: The king gave it to Sahadeva who was ever busy with doing what was agreeable to him. Obtaining it, Sahadeva became pleased as the king treasures upon obtaining Kailasa.

युयुत्सुर्विदुरश्चैव संजयश्च महाद्युतिः सुधर्मा चैव धौम्यश्च यथास्वं जग्मुरालयान्

M. N. Dutt: Yuyutsu and Vidura and Sanjaya, O king, and Sudharman and Dhaumya, proceeded to their foriner abodes.

सह सात्यकिना शौरिरर्जुनस्य निवेशनम् विवेश पुरुषव्याघ्रो व्याघ्रो गिरिगुहामिव

M. N. Dutt: Like a tiger entering his cave in the hills that foremost of men, viz., Krishna, accompanied by Satyaki, entered the palace of Arjuna.

तत्र भक्षान्नपानैस्ते समुपेताः सुखोषिताः सुखप्रबुद्धा राजानमुपतस्थुर्युधिष्ठिरम्

M. N. Dutt: Feasting on the dishes and drinks, the princess passed the night in merriment. Awaking in the morning with delighted hearts, they approached the presence of the king Yudhishthira.
