उत्तङ्क उवाच ब्रूहि केशव तत्त्वेन त्वमध्यात्ममनिन्दितम् श्रुत्वा श्रेयोऽभिधास्यामि शापं वा ते जनार्दन
M. N. Dutt: Utanka said Do you, O Keshava, tell ine that faultless spiritual science. Having heard your discourse I shall ordain what is for your good or imprecate a curse to you O Janardana!
वासुदेव उवाच तमो रजश्च सत्त्वं च विद्धि भावान्मदाश्रयान् तथा रुद्रान्वसूंश्चापि विद्धि मत्प्रभवान्द्विज
M. N. Dutt: Vasudeva said Know that the three qualities of Ignorance, Darkness and Goodness exist, depending on me as their refuge. So also, O twice-born one, know that the Rudras and the Vasus have originated from me.

AI Translation: And the Udgata also praises me with the sounds of songs in the great sacrifice. O Brahman, in the expiations, the proclaimers of peace and auspiciousness praise me, the creator of the universe, always, O best of Brahmanas.
विद्धि मह्यं सुतं धर्ममग्रजं द्विजसत्तम मानसं दयितं विप्र सर्वभूतदयात्मकम्
M. N. Dutt: Know, O best of twice-born persons, that Dharma is my eldest-born offspring, originated from my mind, O learned Brahmana, whose essence is for all creatures.
तत्राहं वर्तमानैश्च निवृत्तैश्चैव मानवैः बह्वीः संसरमाणो वै योनीर्हि द्विजसत्तम
M. N. Dutt: Constantly changing myself, I take birth in various wombs. O best of men, for upholding that son of mine, with the help of men now existing in or departed from the world. Indeed, I do this for protecting Virtue and for establishing it.
धर्मसंरक्षणार्थाय धर्मसंस्थापनाय च तैस्तैर्वेषैश्च रूपैश्च त्रिषु लोकेषु भार्गव
AI Translation: For the protection of the Dharma, for the establishment of the Dharma, By those various forms and appearances, Bhārgava, in the three worlds,
अहं विष्णुरहं ब्रह्मा शक्रोऽथ प्रभवाप्ययः भूतग्रामस्य सर्वस्य स्रष्टा संहार एव च
AI Translation: I am Vishnu, I am Brahma, I am Indra, I am the origin and destruction of the entire group of beings, I am the creator and the destroyer.
अधर्मे वर्तमानानां सर्वेषामहमप्युत धर्मस्य सेतुं बध्नामि चलिते चलिते युगे तास्ता योनीः प्रविश्याहं प्रजानां हितकाम्यया
M. N. Dutt: In every cycle I have to repair the causeway of Virtue, entering into various kinds of wombs from desire of doing good to my creatures.
यदा त्वहं देवयोनौ वर्तामि भृगुनन्दन तदाहं देववत्सर्वमाचरामि न संशयः
M. N. Dutt: When, O son of Bhrigu's race, I live in the order of the celestials, I then indeed, act in i every respect as a celestial.
यदा गन्धर्वयोनौ तु वर्तामि भृगुनन्दन तदा गन्धर्ववच्चेष्टाः सर्वाश्चेष्टामि भार्गव
AI Translation: When I am in the womb of a Gandharva, O son of Bhrigu, then, O Bhārgava, I act like a Gandharva in all my actions.
नागयोनौ यदा चैव तदा वर्तामि नागवत् यक्षराक्षसयोनीश्च यथावद्विचराम्यहम्
M. N. Dutt: When I live in the order of the Nagas I then act as a Naga, and when I live in the order of Yakshas or that of Rakshasas, I act after the manner of that order.
मानुष्ये वर्तमाने तु कृपणं याचिता मया न च ते जातसंमोहा वचो गृह्णन्ति मे हितम्
M. N. Dutt: Born now in the order of men I must act a human being. I appealed to them (the Kauravas) most piteously. But stupefied as they were and deprived of their senses, they refused to take my words.
भयं च महदुद्दिश्य त्रासिताः कुरवो मया क्रुद्धेव भूत्वा च पुनर्यथावदनुदर्शिताः
M. N. Dutt: I frightened them, filled with anger referring to some great fear. But once more I showed themselves my usual human forin.
तेऽधर्मेणेह संयुक्ताः परीताः कालधर्मणा धर्मेण निहता युद्धे गताः स्वर्गं न संशयः
M. N. Dutt: Possessed as they were of unrighteousness, and assailed by the virtue of liine, all of them have been righteously killed in battle, and have, forsooth, gone to the celestial region.
लोकेषु पाण्डवाश्चैव गताः ख्यातिं द्विजोत्तम एतत्ते सर्वमाख्यातं यन्मां त्वं परिपृच्छसि
