युधिष्ठिर उवाच श्रुतं प्रियमिदं कृष्ण यत्त्वमर्हसि भाषितुम् तन्मेऽमृतरसप्रख्यं मनो ह्लादयते विभो
M. N. Dutt: Yudhishthira said I have heard, O Krishna, your agreeable words, They are worthy of you. Gladsome and sweet as nectar are they. Indeed, they fill my heart with great joy, O powerful one.
बहूनि किल युद्धानि विजयस्य नराधिपैः पुनरासन्हृषीकेश तत्र तत्रेति मे श्रुतम्
M. N. Dutt: O Hrishikesha, I have heard that Vijaya has fought numberless battles with the kings of the Earth.
मन्निमित्तं हि स सदा पार्थः सुखविवर्जितः अतीव विजयो धीमानिति मे दूयते मनः
M. N. Dutt: Why is Partha, always dissociated from ease and comfort? Vijaya is exceedingly intelligent. This, therefore, pains my heart very much.
संचिन्तयामि वार्ष्णेय सदा कुन्तीसुतं रहः किं नु तस्य शरीरेऽस्ति सर्वलक्षणपूजिते अनिष्टं लक्षणं कृष्ण येन दुःखान्युपाश्नुते
M. N. Dutt: His body has every auspicious mark. What, however, O Krishna, is that sign in his excellent body for which he has always to suffer misery and discomfort?

M. N. Dutt: For this that that foremost of men has always to be on the road. I really do not sce anything else for which he could be made so unhappy.
इत्युक्तः स कुरुश्रेष्ठस्तथ्यं कृष्णेन धीमता प्रोवाच वृष्णिशार्दूलमेवमेतदिति प्रभो
M. N. Dutt: Thus answered by the intelligent Krishna, that foremost of men, viz., kings, Yudhishthira, said to the chief of the Vrishnis that it was even SO.
कृष्णा तु द्रौपदी कृष्णं तिर्यक्सासूयमैक्षत प्रतिजग्राह तस्यास्तं प्रणयं चापि केशिहा सख्युः सखा हृषीकेशः साक्षादिव धनंजयः
M. N. Dutt: The princess Draupadi, however, looked angrily and askance at Krishna. The destroyer of Keshi, viz., Hrishikesha, approved of that mark of love (for his friend) which the princess of Panchala, who also was his friend, showed.
तत्र भीमादयस्ते तु कुरवो यादवास्तथा रेमुः श्रुत्वा विचित्रार्था धनंजयकथा विभो
M. N. Dutt: Bhimasena and the other Kurus, including the sacrificial priests, who heard of the agrecable triumphs of Arjuna in course of his following the horse, became highly pleased.
तथा कथयतामेव तेषामर्जुनसंकथाः उपायाद्वचनान्मर्त्यो विजयस्य महात्मनः
M. N. Dutt: While they were still engaged in talking about Arjuna a messenger came from that great hero bearing message from him.
सोऽभिगम्य कुरुश्रेष्ठं नमस्कृत्य च बुद्धिमान् उपायातं नरव्याघ्रमर्जुनं प्रत्यवेदयत्
M. N. Dutt: Going to the presence of the Kuru king, the intelligent messenger bowed his head in respect and informed him of the arrival of that foremost of men, viz., Phalguna.
तच्छ्रुत्वा नृपतिस्तस्य हर्षबाष्पाकुलेक्षणः प्रियाख्याननिमित्तं वै ददौ बहु धनं तदा
M. N. Dutt: On receipt of this news, tears of joy covered the king's eyes. Large gifts were made to the messenger for the very sweet tidings he had brought.
ततो द्वितीये दिवसे महाञ्शब्दो व्यवर्धत आयाति पुरुषव्याघ्रे पाण्डवानां धुरंधरे
M. N. Dutt: On the second day forin that date, a loud din was heard when that foremost of men, tha chief of the Kurus camc.
ततो रेणुः समुद्भूतो विबभौ तस्य वाजिनः अभितो वर्तमानस्य यथोच्चैःश्रवसस्तथा
M. N. Dutt: as The dust raised by the hoofs of that horse as it walked close to Arjuna, looked as beautiful that raised by the celestial horse Uchchaishravas.
तत्र हर्षकला वाचो नराणां शुश्रुवेऽर्जुनः दिष्ट्यासि पार्थ कुशली धन्यो राजा युधिष्ठिरः
M. N. Dutt: And as Arjuna advanced, he heard many pleasing words uttered by the citizens. By good luck, O Partha, you are out of danger. Praise to king Yudhishthira.
कोऽन्यो हि पृथिवीं कृत्स्नामवजित्य सपार्थिवाम् चारयित्वा हयश्रेष्ठमुपायायादृतेऽर्जुनम्
M. N. Dutt: Who else than Arjuna could return after having caused the horse to wander over the whole Earth and after having defeated all the kings in battle?
ये व्यतीता महात्मानो राजानः सगरादयः तेषामपीदृशं कर्म न किंचिदनुशुश्रुम
M. N. Dutt: We have not heard of such a feat having been done by even Sagara and other great kings of yore.
नैतदन्ये करिष्यन्ति भविष्याः पृथिवीक्षितः यत्त्वं कुरुकुलश्रेष्ठ दुष्करं कृतवानिह
M. N. Dutt: Future kings also will never be able to perform so difficult a feat. O foremost one of Kuru's race, as this which you have done.
इत्येवं वदतां तेषां नॄणां श्रुतिसुखा गिरः शृण्वन्विवेश धर्मात्मा फल्गुनो यज्ञसंस्तरम्
M. N. Dutt: Listening to such words, agrecable to the ear, of the citizens, the righteous souled Phalguna entered the sacrificial compound.
ततो राजा सहामात्यः कृष्णश्च यदुनन्दनः धृतराष्ट्रं पुरस्कृत्य ते तं प्रत्युद्ययुस्तदा
M. N. Dutt: Then king Yudhishthira with all his ministers, and Krishna, the delighter of the Yadus, placing Dhritarashtra in their van, went out for receiving Dhananjaya.
सोऽभिवाद्य पितुः पादौ धर्मराजस्य धीमतः भीमादींश्चापि संपूज्य पर्यष्वजत केशवम्
M. N. Dutt: Saluting the feet of his uncle (Dhritarashtra), and then of wise king Yudhishthira the just, and then adoring Bhima and others, he embraced Keshava.
