M. N. Dutt: Therefore, I who bear the sight of the prosperity and fortune of my foes, am neither a woman nor on who is not a woman, neither a man nor one who is not a man.
ईश्वरत्वं पृथिव्याश्च वसुमत्तां च तादृशीम् यज्ञं च तादृशं दृष्ट्वा मादृशः को न संज्वरेत्
M. N. Dutt: Seeing their lordship over the world, their such vast wealth, and also their that sacrifice, who is there like me that will not smart under it?
अशक्तश्चैक एवाहं तामाहर्तुं नृपश्रियम् सहायांश्च न पश्यामि तेन मृत्युं विचिन्तये
M. N. Dutt: I am alone incapable of acquiring such royal prosperity. I do not also see any one who can help me in doing it. Therefore I think of death.
दैवमेव परं मन्ये पौरुषं तु निरर्थकम् दृष्ट्वा कुन्तीसुते शुभ्रां श्रियं तामाहृतां तथा
M. N. Dutt: Seeing the great and serene prosperity of the son of Kunti, I consider Fate to be supreme and exertion useless.
कृतो यत्नो मया पूर्वं विनाशे तस्य सौबल तच्च सर्वमतिक्रम्य स वृद्धोऽप्स्विव पङ्कजम्
